Info

We are natural born optimists and continue to plan the symposium as a two-day face-to-face event in combination with online elements that can be followed on the Internet.

Current developments and guidelines encourage us to create a safe meeting that follows our basic idea of a participatory event.

How to ...? From Climate Knowledge to Climate Action

International Symposium: Exhibitions and Education for Sustainable Development

24 – 25 September 2020

Extracurricular venues are challenged worldwide and holistically to deal with the topics and effects of the human age (Anthropocene) and communicate them to various target groups in order to bring them into action for climate protection.

The Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost has been taking up this challenge for more than ten years and has established itself as a center of competence for communicating insights from climate research and sustainability issues.

In the Decade of Action for achieving Agenda 2030, we will go one step further in order to actively promote the necessary changes.

The international symposium will offer a participatory platform to learn from each other and exchange ideas. The two-day event deals with the key questions:

  • How to ... promote a sustainable awareness of values by climate change education, produce visions of the future through exhibitions and be self-confident in our actions for climate protection?
  • How to ... integrate the goals for sustainable development of the United Nations into our work to achieve Agenda 2030?
  • How to ... continue to network with each other and highlight our collective efficacy?

New insights from different disciplines, successful and failed practical examples as well as innovative approaches will be presented, discussed and experienced in order to inspire each other, develop ideas together and create valuable time for all participants.

target group

We want to create a platform for representatives from extracurricular places of learning such as museums, science centers, zoos, botanical gardens and initiatives that have climate change on their agenda, as well as researchers, artists, activists, policy makers, teachers from all types of schools, students and everyone interested in climate change education and climate action.
