The Klimahaus is not only a unique knowledge and adventure world but is also a place of extracurricular learning in which substantiated knowledge is conveyed.
Since children are “tomorrow’s adults”, they will influence the climate significantly. We would like to prepare them for this role. The main focus of our educational work is sustainable knowledge transfer via interaction and experiencing different climate zones on an emotional basis, as well as raising awareness of the topics climate and climate protection.
Our main goal is to motivate children to act in an environmentally friendly manner and to take responsibility. Our knowledge transfer occurs through hands on exhibits in the form of networked learning.
Discover, Experience, Remember
These are the mottos of the educational work in the Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost.
Goals of our educational work:
In the Journey (Reise) children and youths get to know people from various countries and feel the climate of each of the climate zones in which these people live. In the Elements (Elemente) section they experiment with air pressure, wind and radiation, and understand how weather and climate develop from earth, water, fire and air. In Perspectives (Perspektiven) and Opportunities (Chancen) current climate research and forecasts make up the main focus. Here old and young visitors alike learn that they themselves can contribute a lot to protecting the environment.
One of the central elements of our educational work is the reference to scientifically substantiated foundations.
A multitude of approaches to knowledge transfer support self-determined and exploratory learning:
